What this site keeps

In plain words: what this website keeps about you, what it is for, and how to change your mind.

Email updates

If you sign up for email updates (in the newsletter box, on the Follow Development page, or with the box you can tick when you create an account), the site keeps:

  • your email address,
  • when and where you signed up, the exact words you agreed to, and which account you used, if any,
  • and, if you unsubscribe, when you did.

Nothing else goes on the list: not your name, and not your IP address (the number your internet connection is known by). To slow down fake sign-ups and password guessing, the site counts attempts per IP address, apart from the list; each count lasts an hour and is deleted after that.

The emails are devlog posts, release news and the Kickstarter launch for Echoes In Eternity: Saviors Rise, from Little Jack Game Studio. Your address is never sold or given to anyone else to use. To send the emails, the studio may use an email service (such as Kit or Mailchimp), which holds the addresses only to send them.

After you unsubscribe, the site keeps a note that you did, so you are not emailed again by mistake. Ask, and that note goes too.

Stop email updates

Type the address you signed up with. It comes off the list straight away.

Every email will also have an unsubscribe link at the bottom. With an account, Your account has a button for it too.

Accounts and comments

An account keeps your display name, your email address, a scrambled form of your password (never the password itself), when you joined and last visited, and the comments you post. Other visitors see your display name and your comments, never your email address.

Deleting your account (in Your account) removes all of it for good, your address on the email list included.

Cookies

Signing in sets two cookies: one keeps you signed in for up to 30 days, the other tells the page you may be signed in. Signing out removes both. The site's own code sets no other cookies, and there are no ads or trackers.

Cloudflare, which hosts the site, can add a short-lived cookie of its own to tell people from bots.

Where it is kept

In the site's own database at Cloudflare, which hosts the site. Only the studio's admin account can see the email list or download it.

The database keeps at most 30 days of history for repairs, so whatever is deleted is gone for good after that.
